For my self portrait i decided to create something that represented me a whole, i decided to create the mirror image of my head and my thoughts of my mother, i know this was supposed to be about me, but i decided that she is a part of me. As much as i do not like her, i have decided to get it out. and theres nothing better than letting it out on an art project. The thoughts represent what i think of when i think of her. For this project, color was not an option. not because i didnt have color, but because my world is dull when it comes to her, and i think color would have defeated the whole purpose of the picture. Black and white is where my soul lies. I used pencil, and paper for this project. It was hard to describe my mind but i had it figured out. The easy part was drawing myself cause i tink i knew how to already.

My art work is three vases, one is short and wide, second one is medium height with a medium width, finally the last one is tall and skinny. I have flowers coming out of the small one. All the vases have some shading on the outside shading into the center of each vase. I created this art with just a piece of paper and a pencil. I started off with sketching the vases and the flowers and then I went back and darkened all the lines, finally I took my finger and started shading it. The main idea behind this artwork is that my grandmother used to pick me flowers every year for my birthday and put them in vases; she passed away a few years back and her birthday had just passed. My goal for this artwork was to show that the little thinks can make a big impact on someones like, for me it was just the memories of my grandma and what she did for me on my birthday. I think my artwork is very thoughtful and that it means a lot to me. But to some people this may be pointless and not meaningful.
A few things that I noticed when I was looking through his art work was it is very detailed, with faces on building and creative and funky. I would say it is also very colorful, and maybe even to much in one art work. I personally do not find it successful because I don't think many people would find it as amusing as he does. I think that it is to much and don't really understand why there are faces on buildings. The process to the art work I did was, rolling the dice to see how many building I had to put and that was 6, and then I did how many faces I needed and at the end I had faces on all of them. After that I added some hearts and windows along with a few birds. I finally colored it with the few markers I had, and I think it turned out pretty nice. I like how mine had enough color to it but also not to many. I don't think there was anything I didn't like about my art.
this artist describes his art as calmly and symmetrical as possible. the name of this artist is Joe Harriot, title of art was "summary". date created was 1962, he used paint brushes and paint. 7 principles of design include Emphasis, Balance and Alignment, Contrast, Repetition, Proportion, Movement and White Space.
7 elements of art include, line, shape, texture, form, space, colour and value Elements of art are stylistic features that are included within an art piece to help the artist communicate. For this architecture project I used cardboard, sticks, hotglue, and wiggly paper as a door knob, allimunum foil as windows. Creating this artwork i decided to cut the pieces of cardboard out and make four equal sides. I hot glued them into a box and then made 2 extra pieces of cardboard for a roof, and then glued them on. For the windows i cut squares out and glued them to the sides. For stilts i cut the sticks into halves and glued them into the bottom. I cut a stick at a slant and used that for a chimney on the house! The reason i chose the stilt house was because it stood out to me. My goals were to get this finished on time, and that i was gonna try hard on it. My overall thoughts are, i wish that i would have gotten supplies sooner so i could have put more work into it. But im glad i got it done.
For this project i sketched 2 drawings of stilt houses, and compared them to the real art work. Some challenges I faced were sketching the perfect outline, and finding out what the parts were on the houses.
For soft sculpture i made a soda machine out of a styrofoam box. I used carving tools to form the shape of it. it was originally supposed to be a vending machine, but the inside part where you put the snacks, the snacks were falling apart so i decided to make it into a soda machine. I wanted to use the pieces that fell off as the part where the soda comes out. it was a long process to put the stems in but i eventually got it to work, and i topped it off with the name Soda on the top.
For this project i used different techniques and objects I wouldnt've normally used.I used feathers, hot glue, nail polish, googly eyes, sparkles, a giant q-tip. Some challenges i faced was keeping the figure standing, and learning how to put the q-tip in the headphone box. all together it was pretty fun to make and i think helped me realize how to use some things in a way. I used some wheel bearrings for the feet. which i never thought i could use until i figured out how to hot glue them on. I liked this project because it showed me how artisitic i can be when i actually try something new.
Right now as an artist i am trying to accomplish things and get better at artwork, i want to be as good as my mom at art, and i think taking this class will help me achieve that goal of what i'm looking for in my last year of art class. The risks i will take are still unknown but i will try to achieve the best that i can do, and that's really all a person can do. just keep trying. The goals i will set for myself are the ability to reach the talent, and achieve better than i thought i could.
Standards Evidence Art can give you hope. Shows feelings that people can't express. My artwork shows memories and people that I love the most. Some things that are important to me are Jim Denomie made paintings of everyday life. My artwork isn't similar to any of the artists we looked at.
